Guard terms
Version 0.1, updated 16 October 2026
Draft for approval
This document is a draft and is not yet in force. Details in square brackets will be completed before launch.
These terms apply to every security guard who uses GuardGo to find work. You must accept them before we introduce you to any client. Text in square brackets, such as [company number], will be completed before these terms come into force.
1. About GuardGo
1.1 GuardGo is operated by [GuardGo legal entity name], a company registered in England and Wales under number [company number], whose registered office is at [registered office address] (“GuardGo”, “we”, “us”). Contact us at [contact email].
1.2 We act as an employment agency under the Employment Agencies Act 1973 and the Conduct of Employment Agencies and Employment Businesses Regulations 2003. We introduce you to clients so that they can engage you directly. We do not employ you or pay you.
2. The work we help you find
We look for temporary security work in the United Kingdom that needs an SIA front-line licence: door supervision, security guarding, CCTV (public space surveillance) and close protection. Clients include security agencies, pubs, clubs, venues, retailers and event organisers.
3. GuardGo is free for guards
We will never charge you a fee for finding you work or for using GuardGo.
4. Joining and staying approved
4.1 To be approved you must:
- be at least 18 and hold a valid SIA licence for the work you want;
- have the right to work in the UK;
- give us accurate details, including your licence number and expiry date, a photo of your licence card, your right to work information and your qualifications;
- provide a recent, clear photo of yourself.
4.2 Before approving you we check your SIA licence on the SIA’s public register, carry out a right to work check (an online check with your share code and a short video call, or a check through a registered identity provider), and review your qualifications. We repeat these checks from time to time and before any time-limited permission or licence expires.
4.3 You must tell us at once if your SIA licence is suspended, revoked or not renewed, if your right to work changes, or if any of your details change. You cannot express interest in work while your licence or right to work is not valid.
5. Finding and accepting work
5.1 You can search vacancies and set catchment areas to receive email alerts about suitable work.
5.2 When you tap “I’m interested” in a vacancy, you confirm that you have read its details (dates, times, venue area, pay rate, payment terms, duties and dress code), that you are available for every session, and that you accept the work if the client chooses you. You can withdraw your interest until a client chooses you.
5.3 When a client chooses you, the booking is confirmed. We send you the venue address and the client’s contact details, and we send the client your full name, phone number and SIA licence number.
6. Doing the work
6.1 You must do every booked session personally. You must not send anyone in your place or subcontract the work.
6.2 You must:
- arrive on time and wear your SIA licence where it can be seen for the whole session;
- let the client check your licence and identity at the start of each session;
- follow the client’s lawful and reasonable instructions, its site rules and health and safety requirements;
- behave professionally and within the law, including the SIA’s standards of behaviour.
6.3 If you cannot attend a booked session, cancel in GuardGo as early as possible and tell the client. Repeated late cancellations or not turning up may lead to suspension.
7. Right to work (Home Office requirements)
7.1 You must keep your right to work current, give GuardGo and each client the information they need to carry out prescribed right to work checks (including share codes), and provide new information before any time-limited permission ends.
7.2 Because you must do the work personally (section 6.1), you must not engage anyone else to do it. If you ever do so with our written consent, you must carry out prescribed right to work checks on them.
7.3 You must co-operate with any audit by GuardGo and with any Home Office investigation into illegal working connected with a booking.
8. Your relationship with the client
8.1 Your contract for each booking is with the client. The client pays you directly, in the way and at the times stated in the vacancy. GuardGo does not hold or pass on your pay.
8.2 Your status (employee, worker or self-employed) depends on your arrangement with each client. If you are self-employed, you are responsible for your own tax and National Insurance. If you think a client has treated you unfairly, tell us; we may be able to help, and organisations such as Acas and HMRC can give advice.
9. Your profile and personal data
9.1 Before a booking, clients see your first name and the first letter of your surname, your photo, your verified licence types, your experience, how far you are from the venue (as a range) and how many bookings you have completed or cancelled. They do not see your documents.
9.2 Our privacy policy explains how we use and protect your personal data.
10. Conduct
You must not use GuardGo to harass anyone, share false information, or arrange work with clients you met through GuardGo in a way designed to avoid client fees. Clients are bound by similar rules.
11. Liability
We take reasonable care in running GuardGo and checking clients, but we do not guarantee that you will find work or that any client will meet its obligations to you. Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot be limited by law.
12. Suspension and closing your account
12.1 You can close your account at any time from your account settings.
12.2 We may suspend or close your account at once if your SIA licence or right to work is no longer valid, if you breach these terms, or if we reasonably believe continuing would put clients, other guards or GuardGo at risk. Suspension cancels your future bookings, and we tell the clients affected.
13. Changes and complaints
13.1 We will give you at least 30 days’ notice of changes to these terms that affect you.
13.2 If you are unhappy with our service, contact [contact email]. We aim to respond within 10 working days.
14. Law and courts
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. You may bring proceedings in the courts of England and Wales, or of Scotland or Northern Ireland if you live there.
